Every one of us has the instinct to love, appreciate and listen to music. Music touches the mind, body, and spirit. Music is a compelling, meaningful, and powerful force in our lives. Through listening, performing, and composing, we create opportunities for our students to have a deeper understanding of music and in return each child has the ability to play musical instruments, read notes or even play a beat.

1. To develop an intellectual understanding of music through experiences in singing, moving, listening, and playing instruments.
2. To learn to read and notate music, and to create compositions that transcribe their thoughts and emotions into concrete, musical forms of human expression.
3. To build a foundation for a lifetime of participation in and enjoyment of music
